The Bassment Detroit

The underground broadcast platform built from both sides of the console.

The Bassment Detroit connects live performance, community, and broadcast infrastructure. DJ Spade is a co-founding resident alongside Body Mechanic, with roots in the platform’s foundational Sunday-night transmissions.

Sunday-night broadcast

The inaugural sets helped define the underground313.com stream and carried Detroit’s basement energy to listeners outside the room.

Backyard BBQ

A recurring fixture during Movement Festival weekend, with appearances alongside Suburban Knight, Buzz Goree, and visiting underground heads.

Resident signal

The platform is not only an event. It is a consistent place for local artists, records, technical experimentation, and shared culture.

Broadcast architecture

Spade’s custom computer builds and technical work keep the stream stable while the performance stays raw and immediate.

Tech support as creative practice

The computers, cabling, audio routing, encoding, and maintenance usually hidden behind a stream are visible parts of the work here. The Bassment’s sound and reach depend on that complete system.
